About NLC
The Nkwen Language Committee (NLC) is involved in the development of the Nkwen language. It carries out linguistic research, Bible translation, storytelling, and the preservation of Nkwen culture through written and audiovisual forms. The Nkwen language committee is an arm of the Nkwen traditional council with the mandate to research, develop and promote the Nkwen language and culture. This committee has been in existence since 1990 and has carried out significant linguistic development and publications. This committee was enacted by HRM Fon Azehfor III, and is headed by Ndi Azehfor III. On the 30th of May 2020, the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL) signed a partnership agreement with the Nkwen community represented by the Nkwen language committee for the translation of the new testament into the Nkwen language and other linguistic developments. The Nkwen language has “mfd” and its language code.

Our Mission
To revamp, harness, explore, valorizes, and protect Nkwen language from extinction. To teach and pass down the Nkwen language and culture to our children.
Project Arms
Then NLC operates in three major arms, the Translation arm, Linguistics and Literacy, and Oral Bible and Traditional Stories (OBTS).
Translation: This arm is involved in the translation of all material in to the Nkwen language such as; Books, stories, Bible, songs, etc.
Literacy: This is an arm that deals with linguistic research, teaching of the Nkwen language, both online and on-site. It aids the production of a language dictionary, and many more.
OBTS: The Oral Bible and Traditional Stories arm is in charge of recording Bible stories, traditional stories, Historical facts about the people and recounting the stories and the history of the Nkwen people to the public.
Management
NLC is managed by a board chaired by Ndì Azehfor III. This board is made up of, the project coordinator (PC), who is in charge of managing the internal and external daily activities of the project, the head(s) of the Inter Church Committee (ICC), and the Scripture Engagement (SE), in charge mobilizing churches for translation works, Finance/ Project funder, Translation, Literacy, OBTS, Distribution Manager (DM) Publicity and IT heads and Community Representative (CR). These department heads meet to plan the yearly activities of the project.
