CABTAL is in partnership with many villages in Cameroon including the Nkwen community. CABTAL for over three years now has been working with the Nkwen community to see that their language is recognize internationally. Linguistic studies on the language has been and is currently going on to see that the language meets up with international standards.

In a linguistic training in Yaoundé in November 2022, Mr. Mathaus Njeck resound the importance of language development by reiterating the words HRM Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen as a pace setter for other communities and stimulus for those communities who are still procrastinating.

In bringing into existence the words of HRM, the Bamenda III council had an incorporation meeting with the leadership of NLC on the 19th of July 2022 to have language teachers teach the Nkwen language in 10 different schools within the municipality. In effect mother tongue literacy began in these schools in September 2022.

However, the organization of an online literacy classes in phase one and two had been organized, where we had an attendance of over 270 people in attendance all over the country in group one and two. We were also able to print and distribute a limited numbers of diaries. A teacher’s guide for teaching the Nkwen language was developed at the regional center in the month of December 2020. This was followed by a writer’s workshop at BRTC in the month of March 2021 and we also had a literacy teachers training at the project office with 6 teachers in participation.

We were also able to carry out a one-month literacy classes at Menteh, Menda, and Mbesi respectively in the month of February 2021, and a one-month holiday classes at the Nkwen Fon’s Palace and at the NCDA hall in Douala, in the months of July and August, 2021/2022 where we trained over 200 children in the mother tongue.
